Paying homage to Ulysse Nardin’s past with new versions of beautiful classics

Since 1846, when naval commanders and merchant captains the world over came looking for Ulysse Nardin’s marine and pocket chronometers, the company has been building on his winning approach of timekeeping inno-vation and precision.

Every decade since then has seen its share of prize-winning innovative timepieces come out of the manufacture in Le Locle, Switzerland.

These mechanical timepieces provide a perpetual source of inspiration, both for collectors who appreciate their eternal beauty and continued performance, and for the watchmakers at the Swiss manufacture. Today, the release of the Marine 1846 timepiece celebrates this illustrious history with resolutely modern aplomb. Based on the legendary 1996 timepiece, first introduced for the 150th anniversary of the brand, this Marine 1846 updates it with silicium technology and a Grand Feu enamel dial.

The self-winding UN-118 Chronometer movement is entirely designed and produced in-house by the Swiss watchmaker, and is completed by a 60-hour power reserve, and a forward and backward quick-set date. Like its predecessor, its vintage design, in a slightly larger 41 mm case bears the classic traits of the Marine col-lection: Roman numerals, a fluted bezel and excellent water resistance.

On the enamel dial, the small seconds, date and power reserve indicator are joined by the historic marine chro-nometer hands and logo. A final gesture to the past is found on the case-back, where the gold medals won by his-toric Ulysse Nardin timepieces are proudly listed.
