Custom 42 Meter Explorer by Cantiere Delle Marche

The new business unit of the Ancona shipyard will start its activity with the construction of a one-off 42 meter and 499 GRT explorer yacht: M/Y K42

Cantiere delle Marche announces the construction of a new one-off unit of 42 meters and 499 GRT confirming the success of the Italian Shipyard that is emerging as a leader in the market of steel Explorer Yachts from 80 to 140 feet. aflkoi2

The new explorer yacht is part of the Serie-K project, owned by Floating Life and ha been followed since the beginning in person by the President of the Shypyard, Gabriele Virgili. K42 is the result of the cooperation of the team of Cantiere delle Marche, Floating Life for the hull – the building of the hull is based on a technical platform tank tests – and Studio Sculli for the exterior and iterior design. Studio Hydrotec will cooperate for the naval architecture. The delivery is set by the end of 2018 and joins the other five yachts, all over 100 feet, already under construction at Cantiere delle Marche.

The acquisition of this new contract is also a great occasion for the CDM management to formally announce the birth of a new business unit dedicated exclusively to the realization of projects other than those within the two now famous ranges: Nauta Air and Darwin Class. The new CDM ONE-OFF UNIT will manage new projects proposed by its customers but always making sure that they reflect and are consistent with the DNA of CDM (overengineering, great autonomy, original use of space, strength, quality in every detail). The management of these projects does not in any way affect the normal production of the two Nauta Air and Darwin Class lines for which the team will remain the same (also to consolidate the constantly growing know-how on those specific models ): the ONE-OFF UNIT will in fact develop, implement and deliver only one project every 18/24 months and a dedicated team will be specifically created for such projects.

The reasons behind the creation of a separate business unit dedicated to one-off projects are linked to a number of factors: the successful experience gained in recent years has led the company into contact with owners, designers and design engineers all over the world, with different styles and influences that often are close or even overlapping the values and the mission of the shipyard, but do not strictly fall into the two ranges, Nauta Air and Darwin Class. In the constant desire to improve and update its principles and construction techniques, Cantiere delle Marche has therefore decided to address a small number of well-identified projects, which remain consistent to the mission and to the values that have made CdM the world's leader in its field. This will allow to investigate new methods, different processes, use of materials and design for building very interesting Yachts and, at the same time, to bring benefits and practical innovation to existing lines. All this is perfectly reflected in the organization of CdM one-off Unit, an experimental creative laboratory where the ideas of tomorrow are born by building the yachts of today.

The CDM ONE-OFF UNIT is also already working on a new project for the delivery of an additional custom explorer yacht by 2019 which presents other interesting new features in the full "CDM" spirit. This yacht could redefine once again (as happened with the prior ranges Darwin and Nauta Air before) the concept of Explorer.
