The Dilong project started with the encounter, in Cannes (France) in 2010, between Jacques Fauroux, a famous naval architect, his friend and sailor Jacques Lalanne, and Christian Boillot, two time French Dragon champion.
Noting the ever growing development of Classic and Spirit of Tradition yachts around the Mediterranean (Italy, France, Spain), but also in England, in the Scandinavian countries and in Russia, the three men decide to design a dayboat, powerful and elegant, fitted with a gaff rig.
It became quickly evident that the Dragon hull, designed 83 years ago was ideal with her seaworthiness and timeless elegance. The all carbon fibre gaff rig allows the doubling of the sail area and a significant improvement of her performances in light conditions. This will be of particular interest in areas where light conditions prevail such as the Mediterranean and European lakes, but also in the Middle East, in Asia and other parts of the world.

Masts, booms, bowsprits and gaffs are all produced using carbon fibre. They are delivered varnished or as an option with a simulated natural wood paint. Thanks to the split sail area, the absence of diamonds and backstay, the topsail mounted on a luff wire, genoa and jib on furlers, and the asymmetric spinnaker, the boat can be sailed with ease.
In order to guarantee the One‐Design standardisation and the quality of the production, only one manufacturer of rigs and sails has been selected as well as top quality products to equip the boat such as Harken fittings, Bartels furlers, Liros ropes, Harbeck trailers, Dreher covers.
