With less than a month to go and no less than 65 yachts lined up for the 4th edition of the Palma Superyacht Show, it is safe to say that the Mediterranean season opener is sailing straight for success.

It seems that the picturesque and sunny capital of Mallorca has every reason to be abuzz with preparations and anticipation. The 2016 Show will showcase a blend of impressive motor yachts and sleek high-performance sailing yachts, all over 24 metres in length and all available for sale and/or charter. The list of yachts that will be on display includes the 46.22m “PINK GIN”, designed by Judel/Vrolijk & Co and Design Unlimited, and the 48m “NATIVA”, a spectacular Bill Tripp design that will appear on the market for the first time. By their side will be the 42.98m “THIS IS US”, a modern sailor’s classic with proven blue water credentials, and the 42,67m “APHRODITE A”, with her Dutch pedigree and 4500+ nm range. Oyster Brokerage and Charter will both be represented at the show this year, bringing with them two stunning examples from their fleet, the Oyster 100, “PENELOPE” and Oyster 82, “OOFLEDUST” and Bluewater will be presenting two high-performance, full carbon sloops. And that is just a few of the sailing yachts.

As far as motor yachts are concerned, the impressive 48.6m Feadship “MQ2”, last refitted in 2015, and the luxurious 43 m “CD TWO”, designed by Caludio Zampetti, are two of the motor yachts that will be available for inspection. The 37m Heesen “AURELIA”, with its enormous 65 sq.metre sundeck (almost 50% of the yacht’s overall length) is also sure to attract its share of attention.

The 2016 Show will be welcoming back 95% of the exhibitors present during the 2015 Show and this is solid proof of its effectiveness in generating business. The Consortium, three companies with complementary specialisations in communications, navigation, data networks and entertainment technology, will be exhibiting at the PSS for the 3rd successive year. Astilleros de Mallorca, considered to be Mallorca´s premier shipyard, were among the first to register and so were the Vistra Group with capabilities that range from international incorporations to trust, fiduciary and fund administration services.

Apart from those returning, there are a large number of new entries. Among those making their debut this year will be Bachmann Yachts, a company with 40 years of experience in maritime services, and the handling of yacht registrations, purchases, sales and yacht ownership structuring, both for EU and non-EU owners.

GAC Pindar Superyacht Services will also be there for the first time. Murray Bishop says «we are looking forward to the Palma Superyacht Show and the opportunity to present the company’s uniquely integrated and customisable range of services that covers everything from provision of fuels and lubes to escorted tours, from canal straits transits to crew training. It’s is all about making the Captain, Chief Engineer and crews’ lives easier. We deliver peace of mind through a single contact and this saves hours of admin time.”

The good news is indeed abundant. On the evening of the first day, a welcome cocktail will be held at the Fosh Restaurant for Captains, Sponsors and Exhibitors. Which brings us to the tantalizing news that the talented Fosh Food team will be on site once again this year.
