The clock has ticked down, skippers have completed their preparations and the crews have gathered – it’s time to go racing at the Superyacht Cup Palma!

The scent of competition is in the air as many of the world’s finest superyachts begin to gather for the start of the Superyacht Cup Palma next week.

Racing between the giant schooners concluded on Saturday in Capri with the first round of the Schooner Cup Series.

The 81st Bol d’Or Mirabaud will take place this weekend, from Friday to Sunday, at the Société Nautique de Genève.

For day two of maxi schooner competition at this inaugural Capri Classica, the Gulf of Naples took on a northern European feel with an overcast sky, Vesuvius obscured by the mirk and a dark grey cloud parked over Capri’s highest summit giving the appearance that the island was about to erupt. 

Saint-Tropez threw up unexpected conditions for the maxi boats competing on their first of three days of inshore racing at the Rolex Giraglia, organised by Yacht Club Italiano and Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, supported by the International Maxi Association.

Like a scene from the nineteenth century, the four giant schooners are currently berthed in Capri ready to set sail tomorrow in the first ever running of the Capri Classica.

The fleet of the Sanremo-Saint Tropez race has arrived and the winners in the first leg were X-Wave in the ORC class and Solsting in the IRC.

At least 27 maxi yachts will take to the Bay of Naples and its surrounding waters over 10-18 May for Rolex Capri Sailing Week.
