The 8th Mediterranean Yacht Show in Nafplion was concluded with great success, conquering the first place as the world’s largest crewed yacht charter show for yet another year.
Having emerged as one of the premier events for industry professionals, the 8th Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) turned the international spotlight onto Greece once again, as the host of the world’s largest crewed yacht charter show.
It is worth noting that yachts measuring 24 meters and above in length have the right to participate in the exhibition, making the MEDYS the only sector event of similar scope in Greece that is exclusively addressed to the upper segment of luxury yachting. At this year’s Show, 92 yachts with a cumulative LOA of 3.5 kilometers were present, with a waiting list (due to limited space in the port of Nafplion) that surpassed the numbers of every previous year. In order to fully grasp the MEDYS’ size, it is worth considering that the number of participating yachts far exceeded that of comparable shows.
On the occasion of the successful completion of the 8th Mediterranean Yacht Show, the President of the Greek Yachting Association, Mr Michael Skoulikidis stated: “As Greece has been dynamically establishing itself in the field of luxury yachting over the last decade, what has now come to be known as the institution that is the Mediterranean Yacht Show, functions as one of the key tools for promoting the quality and reliability of yachts operating with a Greek charter license. The increased presence of companies and yachts, which exceeded all expectations again this year, is proof of the correct strategic path that our Association followed during the creation and expansion of the Show over the years”.
The Mediterranean Yacht Show took place from April 29th to May 3rd, 2023 with its opening ceremony attended by, among others, the Mayor of Nafplion, Mr. Dimitrios Kostouros, the General Secretary of Culture at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Mr. Georgios Didaskalou, the Members of Parliament of Argolis, Mr Ioannis Adrianos and Andreas Poulas and the Governor of the Peloponnese Region, Mr. Panagiotis Nikas.
● Number of yachts: 92 registered yachts with 30 yachts on the waiting list
● Total cumulative LOA: More than 3.5 kilometers
● Number of visitors: More than 750 industry professionals
● Countries represented: 31 countries
● Number of Exhibitors: 42 exhibitor stands
Confirming the event’s success is, among others, the significantly larger presence of industry professionals from all over the world, with more than 750 participants from 31 countries. Among the companies represented were: Camper & Nicholsons International, CSO Yachts, YCO, IYC, CharterWorld LLP, Yachting Partners International, Northrop & Johnson, Luxury Charter Group, West Nautical, etc.
During the exhibition, the established Chefs’ Competition also took place, with 29 chefs from participating MEDYS yachts competing in 2 different categories. The jury included the 2 Michelin star-awarded Chefs, Mr. Giorgos Papazacharias from Greek Restaurant Delta and Mr. Antonio Mellino from Quattro Passi restaurant in Italy. At the same time and within the framework of the 8th MEDYS, a series of parallel events took place, providing an opportunity for extensive networking among yachting professionals.
The exhibition was co-organized for another year by the Greek Yachting Association and the Municipality of Nafplion, in collaboration with the Region of Peloponnese and was held under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Tourism.
